skewed
Rose tinted glasses keep things rosy, until they’re not.
What nobody tells you about shattering them is that you’re not left with clear eyes, like you thought you would be.
You’re just left with a view that is equally skewed.
For anyone to take them off in the first place, it was never by choice. It’s human nature to have hope. Something to hold on to, to believe in - even the weakest link can seem herculean when you’re desperate enough.
Life has a strange way of steering you to what you need, even if it means destroying a part of yourself that has been so deeply etched into your psyche to survive. The process can take years, just as it did to create the person you were before. There you are, stuck in another cycle of recalibration.
It’s so unsettling when you’re aware of it yet awareness is the only solution. The conscious decisions preluding deliberate actions, day in and day out until it cements its stake in your core identity.
Hopefully, you’d find that your newfound second nature sits in the right place.
